Open-Tab SEO: audit the tab, don't paste the URL

We named the category so the promise stays narrow: on-page signals from the live DOM, instantly, locally. Not a crawl. Not a backlink index.

Most “free SEO checkers” start with a paste field. That design assumes a public URL and a bot fetch. Editors, though, live inside preview tabs, staging hosts, and logged-in templates. Open-Tab SEO starts where the work already is.

What belongs in the side panel

Title/meta, headings, keyword pulse, links, alts, OG/Twitter, JSON-LD, robots.txt on the same origin. That set maps to everyday publish QA. It does not map to Domain Rating.

What we leave out on purpose

Rank tracking and link indexes need data warehouses and usually a subscription. Putting a fake “Authority 72” on a free extension would be a lie. We show Pagehand Score instead — a transparent rubric.
